Richmond Knights

What would it look like if Richmond, Virginia, had an NBA team? Introducing, The Richmond Knights! To much of your surprise, VA did actually have a professional basketball franchise from' 70-'76 known as The Virginia Squires. The Squires were an ABA team and evaporated once the ABA & NBA merged to form a professional sports monopoly. The name "The Knights" is a subtle nod to our state's history, being that a Squire is a stepping-stone rank in becoming a Knight. Due to Knights being considered part of the Nobility, purple was the obvious choice for a team color, as it was a color only worn by Nobles and much too expensive for peasants.
